But it is Monday and that means it's time for our favorite meme, Making Your Home Sing Mondays hosted by my sweet friend, Nan @ Momstheword.

I woke up from a dream this morning that left me thinking about the past. Then I had an email from a dear friend during that time of my life. I am thankful for my friend's email and her concern about us. But between the two, it left me feeling a little bit sad.
I was reminded of a time in our lives when life seemed easier and not so stressful. Yes, there were problems. But they weren't as consuming as the problems we face today.
It's easy to live in that past. It's easy to think about the "what ifs" or the "what might have beens". It's difficult to think about the present. It's difficult to focus on the problems of today and not want to go back.
Unfortunately life doesn't work that way.
We do have to face today.
We do have to live in the present.
Paul set the example for us when he said, "Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
That is the example I want to follow this week. I want to focus on the blessings of the present. But more than that, I want to honor my Father in Heaven. I want to keep pressing in and pressing up knowing that His future is much better than the past.
I may not understand the present.
I may not always like it.
But I have learned over and over in my life that God has a purpose. I know that His promises of Jeremiah 29:11 are true. I know that His plans are for good and not for evil. I know that He gives us a hope and a future.
So I am going to trust.
I am going to trust that THIS present is in God's hands. THIS present has a purpose for the future. THIS present is for His greater glory.
As I have typed this, the words of Blessed Assurance have gently started playing in my heart.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
I pray that you have Blessed Assurance today my friend.
I pray that you know the love of the Father who loves you so dearly that He sent His only son to die on the cross for you. May you know that you can trust Him with your past, with your present and with your future. May you know that He has a plan for you. He has not forgotten you. He has not abandoned you. He knows you by name and He is working out the future just for you. All you have to do is trust Him my friend. Simmply trust Him.
I pray each of you have a great week praising our Savior all the day long!
Don't forget to visit Nan for more Making Your Home Sing Mondays.
Take care my friends,

God does have a purpose for each of us. Thanks for sharing.
Blessings
I ran into an old high school friend last weekend...and we remembered the "good 'ole days" for a bit! Life did seem easier back then...besides the normal teenage dramas! What a great lesson for us to remember...keep pressing...it can be hard! Thanks for reminding us of the purpose that God has in store for us! Have a wonderful Monday...sigh! ha ha!
livin In His Blessed Assurance today. Happy Monday to you too!
I truly believe today is better than yesterday.
What an awesome post, Alicia.
I have a friend who is trying to sell their home as they can no longer make the payments due to job loss and home business problems. They are hoping to sell it because they can only afford to make one more payment on it and they'd rather sell it than lose it.
But she and her family feel sad about losing their home and are worried about losing their family dogs (we told them we somehow would find people to help care for them until they could have them again).
I have another friend who has his own home business and business is the worst it's ever been. Right now his wife is supporting them with her job. I have a nephew who is out of work and is praying like mad but is a bit scared about how he will provide.
During such a time, the past looks pretty good, doesn't it? But it does no good to look back to the past, because you miss what God is doing in the future.
"I am going to trust that THIS present is in God's hands. THIS present has a purpose for the future. THIS present is for His greater glory." I loved what you said here.
We can CHOOSE to believe that God is working in the present, because He is. We can CHOOSE to believe that He is working things out for our good, our growth, and for His glory, because He is.
We can make the choice to sing, because we have that blessed assurance of His provision!
Thank you for joining in today, my friend!
Such a refreshing post to start off a Monday my friend! A wonderful reminder! And I do love that song - I'm humming it in my mind now. Have a lovely day Alicia!
Hi Alicia! We did have a very nice weekend. I got to visit with some relatives I haven't seen in many years and meet their children.
It is easy find oneself longing for the past when things get complicated in this life. Thank you for reminding us of Paul's words. I love this old hymn too. :0)
I love Blessed Assurance! What a great reminder that I should be praising him all the day long! Man, somedays I need an attitude adjustment!
Really great post! ;) Our 4th was less then stellar but in the scheme of things this is NOTHING!!!
Beautiful post - thank you for putting all things back in perspective!!
That song reminds me of church!
Great post, Alicia!
I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have the blessed assurance of Christ!!!
Great post, thanks for the reminder!
This present is in God's hands, has a purpose for the future, and is for His greater glory! I really needed this! Thanks so much Alicia!

Great post!
Alicia,
So true my friend. Some days it is hard to live in the present, but knowing that He holds the future and He has a plan for me I can press on. What an awesome way to make your house sing.
Hugs,
Mimi
Your post fits with mine today. My future looks scary and exciting to me, but in God's hands there are no worries.
I'm trusting Him with each day and each thing.
Thanks, Alicia
Take care
Nannette
I really needed to read this today! Seems that lately I've been pondering too many things from the past! Allowing those things to make me think I couldn't move forward or let some things go. Press forward. Thank you.
